NFL Power Tiers: Week 4, 2026
The Power Tiers returns after I struggled to balance the dad-work-podcast life...also I was lamenting the Phillies being bounced from the playoffs super early again.
My response is to make these write ups a little more concise. You watch the games, right? You should have some sort of understanding why your team is where they are, right? And if you don't...yell at me. We could use the engagement.
Here's where the power tiers stand after week 4
Juggernauts
Pretty obvious choices here, however...the Bills would be the only point of contention for some, but we all know no one goes 17-0. There's always a slip up somewhere in there. And I will not crush Buffalo for a division loss that came down to a miraculous game winning catch. Niners and Chiefs though are undeniable at the moment.
Scary Good
A lot of familiar faces here. The Seahawks are a little shaky, too shaky to be a juggernaut and their week 3 loss to the Mariota-led Commanders was a big blow.
Rams may be missing Myles Garrett still, but they do not look like they are living up to the preseason Super Bowl Champion status they garnered. And the Ravens are good...but Lamar is hurt again...
ELECTRIC
Raiders, Jags and Bears are all fun to watch. Period. I don't really need to go into why or how, but lets summarize it all.
Bears continue to look good even without Caleb Williams. The Jaguars can stand toe to toe with anyone as long as they stay in rhythm. The Raiders are pulling the biggest 180 I've ever seen, especially when you look back at how they've done so far this quarter century.
Weird Month
This tier takes up the most teams because they had rollercoaster first months. Some of these teams are playing above their expectations, some played below.
The Colts may be finding their stride, along with the Panthers and Bryce Young specifically. However, a couple stinkers early on make you question legitimacy. The same goes for the 2 AFC North teams in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.
The Saints and Patriots are having inverse seasons: The Saints had zero expectations, just hopes of improvement. They are a fun team to watch. The Patriots are coming off a Super Bowl trip, but are a very uninspiring 2-2 record at this point.
How Is This Happening?
The Vikings, Browns and Falcons are all breaking collective NFL fans brains.
The Vikings continue to win in the ugliest of ways regardless of QB play and even without Justin Jefferson at times. Their defense is insane. The Browns continue to win and we all refuse to give Deshaun Watson props for decent QB play because....well you know.
The Falcons were arguably the worst team in football the first 2 weeks of the season...The past 2 weeks they have absolutely blown opponents out. Cooper Rush really must suck.
Fugazi
If you asked me what I thought of the NFC East, the only word I would have is 'FUGAZI'
The Giants are led by Jameis Winston (or JJ McCarthy now I guess?) and they've not played that strong of competition. The Eagles are falling apart at the seams due to injury and a sudden retirement from legendary right tackle Lane Johnson and I don't want to talk about it.
The Cowboys after a week 1 loss to the Giants certainly look like they are getting better each week...but this is just kinda par for the course. We all know how this ends.
Can't Be Taken Seriously
All of these teams are absolutely ugly to watch and their record doesn't matter. If you are watching one of these teams play, you're sick.
The Jets are the Jets...even Jets fans will tell you that. The Commanders are now on their 3rd string QB, 7th round rookie from Rutgers Athan Kaliakmanis (I will be rooting hard for him, even though I can't stand Washington)
The Packers look absolutely atrocious across the board, that was exposed during their beatdown loss to the Falcons in primetime during week 3.
And they recently just got a win off our last team here, the Bucs...who were looking bad WITH Baker Mayfield, and after a thumb dislocation likely won't play for a while...so it's looking downhill from here for them. They maybe should be in our bottom tier but they truly are just a mess of a team right now.
SUPER ASS
New addition to this collection of dumpster fire teams is the Texans. I am still unsure if they are actually terrible, but judging by the record its hard not to think they should be placed anywhere else.
Otherwise, it's status quo here. Cardinals are not good whatsoever, Justin Herbert has lost all aura and confidence and looks worse than I even thought. The Dolphins and the Titans seems to be the true Toilet Bowl matchup I wish we had on the schedule this year.
I PROMISE I will try to get this out on time next week.
